1 Scope

1.1 These requirements cover industrial and commercial vibrators designed and intended to facilitate the flow and settling of granular materials and slurries.

1.2 These products are intended to be mounted to bins, chutes, hoppers, tables, forms, and/or vehicle beds or containers.

1.3 The products covered by these requirements are electrically operated, AC and/or DC and are rated 1,000 volts single or three-phase or less.

1.4 These requirements do not cover products intended for use with flammable or combustible liquids.

1.5 These requirements do not cover products intended for use in hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code®, NFPA 70. The National Electrical Code® and NEC® are registered trademarks of the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., Quincy, MA 02169

1.6 If the risk of fire does not exist at a vibrator, part, or circuit, then the requirements of this Standard intended to address the risk of fire shall not apply to that vibrator, part, or circuit.

1.7 If the risk of electric shock does not exist at a vibrator, part, or circuit, then the requirements of this Standard intended to address the risk of electric shock shall not apply to that vibrator, part, or circuit.

1.8 The requirements of this Standard intended to address the risk of fire do not apply to a product provided with a metal enclosure in which there are no openings in the enclosure through which molten metal, burning insulation, flaming particles, or other ignited material could fall onto flammable material, or through which a flame could be projected.

1.9 The products covered by these requirements have not been evaluated for the sound pressure levels produced during operation.
