Follow the latest guidelines in the 2015 NFPA 1201 to protect lives, property, critical infrastructure, and the environment from the effects of hazards.
A critical guide for developing organizational aspects of All-Hazards Response Agencies, 2015 NFPA 1201: Standard for Providing Fire and Emergency Services to the Public fosters developing partnerships with the community, administration, and other response agencies — especially in light of greater hazards such as terrorism and epidemic events.
The Standard provides recommendations for the structure and operation of emergency service organizations:
- Municipal and private fire services dealing with financial, personnel, and emergency management
- Prevention activity including public education, code enforcement, and fire investigation
- Communications
- Equipment and facilities
New in the 2015 edition:
- “Authority Having Jurisdiction” has been changed to the “Governing Authorities of a Jurisdiction” to provide clarity in determining ultimate authority.
- “Risk Assessment” has been changed to “Community Risk Reduction” to better define the process of reducing overall risk to the community.
- To improve the quality and accuracy of data analysis, the Standard also now explicitly states that incident data shall be submitted to the appropriate state, provincial, and national reporting systems.
Stay up-to-code and make fire and emergency services more efficient and effective.
NFPA 1201 also outlines the roles and responsibilities regarding fire service response capabilities to fire suppression, emergency medical services, and special operations, including hazardous materials response.
