Description
CGA P-31 addresses operational and safety requirements for design, installation, operation, and maintenance of systems to load cryogenic liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon into tankers for distribution to customer sites. While its principles may be applied to older facilities, it is written for installations designed and constructed after 2000. Loading may be by gravity, pressure, or pump filling. It covers the time and activities between a tanker entering and departing from the fill line. It covers equipment necessary and precautions to be followed to avoid overfilling a tanker and to prevent a tanker from inadvertently pulling away from the fill area. It includes measures to avoid contamination of liquid tankers as well as information on training personnel in the safe operation of liquid loading equipment.
Items not discussed are cryogenic rail cars and unloading tankers.
