Integrated project delivery (IPD) is a proven approach for efficiently designing and building a facility for owners and an effective method for architects, engineers and contractors to garner the highest quality for the best value and schedule. To date, IPD has mostly been applied to private-sector projects rather than public-sector ones, which are often hampered by lowest cost-bid contracting rules and an inability to adopt integrated contracts where the risks and rewards are shared among the all primary project stakeholders. This seminar reveals the prescription for success behind the $1.6 billion UCSF Medical Center project which resulted in a highly collaborative, integrated, BIM centric project that maintained scope, quality and performance for this facility.
