Description

Conventional air conditioning systems deal with the sensible and latent cooling loads in one process. This process overcools the supply air below dew point for dehumidification and then reheat it before being delivered indoors. Separate sensible and latent cooling (SSLC) systems are a promising energy efficient alternative that decouples the latent from the sensible load. This paper analyzes a fuel-driven SSLC system using a solid desiccant device for latent cooling and an absorption heat pump for sensible cooling. The simulation showed that for the case analyzed, the SSLC system could save primary energy by 43% compared to a conventional one.
