Description
The cooling capacity of an air conditioner gradually increases to its steady-state value upon compressor start-up. The gradual increase in capacity is, in small part, due to the thermal inertia of the components but, more importantly, is due to the dynamics of the refrigerant within the system. The evaporator, condenser, and liquid line become important elements in this delay in response.
