Description
Describes experiments conducted in a full-scale test room 18 x 24 x 8 ft (5.5 x 7.3 x 2.4m) for both isothermal and nonisothermal conditions. Based the experimental data, discusses 1) the statistical features of air velocity fluctuations including probability density functions and energy spectra, 2) the observed air flow patterns and 3) the spatial distributions of mean velocity, turbulence intensity, kinetic energy of turbulence and mean temperature. Pays special attention to the effects of the diffuser air velocities and internal heat loads on the flow characteristics and to the differences between the diffuser jet region and the occupied region. States the detailed experimental data are also useful for evaluating and improving numerical simulation models of room air motion.
