AN-92-13-4 — Meeting New Commercial Building Survey Requirements

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1992

Category:

Description

New objectives in building research have increased the requirements of commercial building surveys to support additional analyses that require the matching of energy billing information with survey data. Additionally, to support end-use and DSM (demand-side management) analysis, more detailed lighting and miscellaneous load inventory is proposed. Presents responses to the following three questions, which address some of the increased data collection requirements. 1. Matching bills to premises – what set of rules should be followed to match the premises surveyed with the energy bills to support the many combined engineering and statistical analyses? 2. Multi-building complexes – in facilities such as hospitals, colleges, and malls, there may be multiple buildings to survey. Do all buildings need to be surveyed or can a subsampling approach be used? 3. Lighting and miscellaneous hourly analysis – lighting and miscellaneous equipment represent large magnitudes and are used differently across the hours of the day and day types. Can these loads be inventoried and their operation characterised across the hours of the day?
