Description
This paper addresses the topic of dynamic ice systems being a low-cost alternative in new construction. The characteristics of dynamic ice versus static ice and chilled water storage are discussed. The types of facilities where dynamic ice is most likely to provide the low-cost alternative are shown with cost estimates. A simulation analysis of central chilled water plants is presented showing how plant characteristics affect the cost of adding chillers or ice thermal storage to increase the capacity of the central plant.
