VA-89-12-2 — DOE-2.1D Data Base of Building Loads for Prototypicai Multifamily Buildings in the U.S.

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1989

Category:

Description

A data base of hourly building loads has been created using the DOE=2.1Dprogram for 16 prototypical multifamily buildings in 15 U.S. cities. The buildings reflect typical conditions in rnultifamily buildings of various vintages in four U.S. regions, and range from two-story, four-unit brick buildings built with sing~e-pipe steam heat tolarge five-story buildings of more than 30 units with central forced-air systems.

The purpose of the data base is to provide a consistent basis for assessing the performance and plicability of different equipment and conservation measures to the multifamily building sector. The furl data–with hourly heating, cooling (sensible and latent), and domestic hot waterloads and the estimated electric consumption by apartment unit–will be released on floppy disks together with an interactive PC program that will allow users to extract rnonthly totals, binned loads, or hour-of-day profiles, depending on their research interests. A supporting summary report will also be available giving monthly and binned totals and the methodology used in calculating the data base.
