The purpose of these recommended practices is toprovide accurate information that can serve as a guidefor installation of blowout prevention equipment systemson land and marine drilling rigs (barge, platform,bottom-supported, and floating). Blowout preventionequipment systems are composed of all systems requiredto operate the blowout preventers under varying rigand well conditions. These systems are namely – blowoutpreventers, kill line, choke manifold, closing unit,diverter, marine riser, and auxiliary equipment. Theprimary functions of these systems are to confine wellfluids to the wellbore, provide means to add fluid to thewellbore, and allow controlled volumes to be withdrawnfrom the wellbore.
