Description
Papers dealing with shell-side condensation on horizontal tube banks frequently assume that the condensation coefficient on all tubes in the bank is the same as that on a single tube with zero vapor velocity. When “row-effect†corrections are included, the correction factor is normally based on empirical data for a vertical row of horizontal, plain tubes with zero vapor velocity. It is known that vapor velocity can affect the condensation coefficient on a single tube and on tubes in a bundle. This paper surveys recent work to define the separate effects of condensate inundation (the row-effect), and vapor shear. This study also examines how the corrections change when both vapor shear and inundation effects are present. The survey includes both plain and integral-fin tubes. The key issue of interest is to establish appropriate correction factors for shell-side refrigerant condensers. Units: Dual Publisher: ASHRAE Year: 1984 Author: R.L.
