Description

The present short fall of energy within the world, coupled with the obvious rapid depletion ofnon-replenishable fossil fuels, makes it an obligation upon all of us to direct our talents andefforts to help solve the energy crisis. Conservation is one obvious means of gaining theneeded time until a new energy source can be discovered which will fill our needs and wants foran ever expanding economic growth in our society. Balancing of mechanical systems, when properlyperformed, will result in less energy being consumed by the building as a whole. As aprincipal in an engineering firm which specializes in testing, adjusting and balancing of environmentalsystems for buildings, I am convinced energy conservation by balancing can only beaccpmplished if there is an improvement in the quality of the TAB work now being performed. Ifurther wish to point out there is a growing demand for a new, second phase of balancing forminimum energy consumption, i.e., adjusting system output to actual imposed loads, after thebuilding is occupied.
