Description
The U.S. Army’s experience with diurnal ice storage (DIS) cooling system for one of its facilities is discussed in this paper. A few favorable characteristics of an Army post for the application of storage cooling systems are identified. A nominal 900 ton-h ice-in-tank DIS cooling system was installed at Ft. Stewart, GA, and has been in operation since March 1987 to demonstrate the applicability of DIS cooling systems to Army facilities. Information on the design construction operation, and performance of the Ft Stewart DIS cooling system is presented.
