DA-88-13-4 — Fire Department Application of Positive Pressure Ventilation

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1988

Category:

Description

This paper will address the difficulties that fire departments have in smoke removal from buildings and descriDe an innovation that has significantly improved the methodology of handling the problem. Common practice over the past quarter century or more has been to use negative pressure ventilation for smoke removal. Experiments and experience using positive pressure methodology have proved this to be the method of choice in most cases. A high volume air movement system has been developed to facilitate replacement of the contaminated air with fresh air from outside the structure.
