DA-88-15-1 — Passive Solar Energy in Intelligent Buildings

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1988

Category:

Description

Digital control systems are proposed for buildings and dwellings, which can manage the passive solar gains, natural ventilation, heating, and lighting in such a way that they minimize energy consumption and provide good thermal and daylighting conditions year-round. This will be carried out by an integrated control system for window decives (blinds, vent windows, etc.) and the traditional lighting and heating system. Concepts and techniques to be used for the design are described, such as optimal control strategies derived from adaptive models of the building components and the weather. The similarity to the “intelligent building” or “smart house” concept is pointed out.
