This article tracks the evolution of ASHRAE Standard 127, Method of Testing for Rating Computer and Data Processing Room Unitary Air Conditioners, since its initial version in 1988. The changes incorporated into the 2012 revision are reflective of return air conditions corresponding to the recommended and allowable ranges of the 2009 edition of Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments for ITE Classes 1 and 2
