Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1985

Category:

Description

Several authors have used cubic equations of state to correlate data for binary mixtures of refrigerants. In particular, the Redlich-Kwong-Soave equation of state has been successfully applied to mixtures of R13B1/R152a. Computer programs were developed to calculate the thermodynamic properties of binary nonazeotropic refrigerant. mixtures and to analyze a mixture operating in a simple refrigerating cycle.

Since ternary nonazeotropic mixtures may also be of interest, study of their thermodynamic properties is desirable. As a result, the Redlich-Kwong-Soave binary mixture computer programs have been modified to allow calculation of ternary mixture properties. Utilizing only binary data for each pair of components in a ternary mixture, the programs have been modified with the goal of calculating ternary mixture properties. Predicted vapor pressure, vapor density, and vapor-liquid equilibria are compared with experimental data for a ternary mixture of R13B1/R12/R152a.
