Description
The building is an outreach center for adult vocational and technical education located in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, and is part of the Madison Area Technical College System. The building was completed in August 1978 and occupied in September 1978. This building is one of the first commercial applications of an ice-maker heat pump, with the prime purpose of providing domestic hot water and comfort heating. The Wisconsin Vocational, Technical, and Adult Education (WVTAE) system has 44 campus facilities. Many of these have been constructed or undergone major changes since 1976. In all cases energy has been a major consideration. Many energy concepts have been included in these facilities, including active solar, building energy management systems, thermal envelopes, and passive designs. The Reedsburg facility has the lowest energy usage of all 44 facilities on an area-weather base performance index.
