To derive maximum benefit from your dealings with lawyers, it is important to understand the nature of the attorney/client relationship. In the typical relationship, the client selects and pays the attorney, and the attorney is answerable only to the client. However, when you are a party to a litigation in which your insurance carrier has an interest, the dynamics are different.
