Intended for use in conjunction with the most recent edition of NFPA 10: Life Safety Code, the 2013 NFPA 101A: Guide on Alternative Approaches to Life Safety provides alternative approaches to life safety for the following occupancy types:

Each chapter is a different system independent of the others. The 2013 edition of NFPA 101A contains forms for recording building and life safety features, related worksheets, and other tools involved in a formalized method for presenting an equivalency request to the AHJ.
