Take the latest precautions for fire protection around radioactive materials as defined in the 2008 NFPA 801.
Wherever radioactive materials are handled, processed, or stored, special safety measures are needed to reduce the risk of fire or explosion and the severity of contamination from a fire or explosion. NFPA 801: Fire Protection for Facilities Handling Radioactive Materials applies to all facilities that handle radioactive materials except nuclear reactors.
Revisions to the 2008 edition include:
- Definitions and references were updated for consistency with other NFPA® documents.
- Added coverage of temporary interior containment structures
- Clarification of requirements regarding on-site fire emergency response
