SL-90-06-2 — A Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Package for Teaching HVAC Design

$7.50

Conference Proceeding by ASHRAE, 1990

Category:

Description

Describes a series of compatible design programs which comprise a first step towards computer-aided draughting and design (CADD) for HVAC systems. States the present package only addresses the air handling system, but it could be expanded to include sizing and design of coils, filters and central refrigeration equipment. The purpose of the package is to demonstrate to first-year students how CADD could be applied to HVAC systems, and to provide second-year students with an opportunity to apply their programming skills to their technical speciality. States it is not intended as a professional design tool because of the many simplifying assumptions and design limitations included at present. Since the software has only recently been completed, it has not been fully tested in the classroom.
