It also covers the regulatory, public policy and market environment within which the electrical grid is managed and barriers to wider implementation of a smart grid. Also covered are an overview of key concepts from ASHRAE’s Smart Grid Application Guide. One focus is on demand response measures and programs and how smart buildings and their new system concepts can interact with the smart grid to implement demand response measures. Several case studies for how the facilities in the built environment can interact with a smart grid are discussed. Finally, the course summarizes some developing trends, technologies and other issues that are driving this evolution of the electrical grid across the globe.
